Step 2: Extract RPCS3

To extract RPCS3, you need a program that can handle .7z files, such as [7-Zip] or [WinRAR]. After you install one of these programs, right-click on the .7z file and choose "Extract Here" or "Extract to RPCS3". You will get a folder named RPCS3 that contains the emulator files.

Step 3: Install Firmware

To run PS3 games on RPCS3, you need to install the official PS3 firmware on the emulator. The firmware is the software that runs on the PS3 console and provides the basic functions and features of the system. To install the firmware, follow these steps:

  • Go to [Sony's website] and download the latest PS3 system software update file. The file name should be PS3UPDAT.PUP and the size should be around 300 MB.

  • Copy the PS3UPDAT.PUP file to a folder named "update" inside the RPCS3 folder.

  • Open RPCS3 and click on "File" and then "Install Firmware". Locate the PS3UPDAT.PUP file and select it. The emulator will install the firmware and show a message when it is done.

Step 4: Add Games

The last step is to add PS3 games to RPCS3. You can either use physical PS3 discs or digital PS3 game files. To use physical discs, you need a Blu-ray drive that can read PS3 discs. To use digital files, you need to download them from a trusted source or dump them from your own PS3 console. Here are the steps to add games to RPCS3:

  • If you are using physical discs, insert the disc into your Blu-ray drive and open RPCS3. The emulator will detect the disc and show it in the game list.

  • If you are using digital files, copy them to a folder of your choice. The files should have either .iso, .bin, .pkg, or .rap extensions.

  • Open RPCS3 and click on "File" and then "Add Games". Browse to the folder where you stored the game files and select them. The emulator will add them to the game list.

  • To play a game, double-click on it in the game list. The emulator will launch the game and show it in a new window.

How to Download and Install PS3 Emulator on Linux

If you have a Linux device, you can also use RPCS3 as your PS3 emulator. RPCS3 supports various Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora, Arch Linux, and more. It has similar features and options as the Windows version, but it requires some additional steps to install and run. Here are the steps to download and install RPCS3 on Linux:

Step 1: Download RPCS3

To download RPCS3, go to [RPCS] website and click on "Download" at the top menu. You will see a list of the latest builds for Windows, Linux, macOS, and FreeBSD. Choose the one that matches your Linux distribution and click on "Download". You will get a .AppImage file that contains the emulator.

Step 2: Make RPCS3 Executable

To make RPCS3 executable, you need to change its permissions and allow it to run as a program. To do this, open a terminal and navigate to the folder where you downloaded the .AppImage file. Then, type the following command:

chmod +x rpcs3-v0.0.18-2020-06-18.AppImage

Replace the file name with the one you downloaded. This will make the file executable and ready to run.

Step 3: Install Firmware

To install the firmware, you need to follow the same steps as the Windows version. However, instead of opening RPCS3 by double-clicking on it, you need to run it from the terminal. To do this, type the following command:

./rpcs3-v0.0.18-2020-06-18.AppImage

This will launch the emulator and show its main window. Then, you can follow these steps:

  • Go to [Sony's website] and download the latest PS3 system software update file. The file name should be PS3UPDAT.PUP and the size should be around 300 MB.

  • Copy the PS3UPDAT.PUP file to a folder named "update" inside the RPCS3 folder.

  • Click on "File" and then "Install Firmware". Locate the PS3UPDAT.PUP file and select it. The emulator will install the firmware and show a message when it is done.

Step 4: Add Games

To add games, you need to follow the same steps as the Windows version. However, instead of browsing to the folder where you stored the game files, you need to drag and drop them to the emulator window. The emulator will automatically add them to the game list and show their icons. To play a game, double-click on its icon in the game list. The emulator will launch the game and show it in a new window.
